Step-by-Step Guide to Event Risk Management

Risk management is the process of identifying, assessing and controlling foreseeable risks that could impact the success of an event.

These foreseeable risks include any incidents or issues that could impact the success of an event. Typically these could be from safety and security threats that could affect the public, performers, athletes, staff, contractors, or volunteers. Additionally it could present a hazard to property, significantly disrupt the event or represent a fundamental compliance or governance-related risk.

Over recent years risk management has grown in its predominance and importance in best practice venue and event management. Achieving successful risk management involves documenting a process of risk assessment and assigning tasks to prevent risks from occurring and/or responding and recovering when negative occurrences occur.
